As with any emergency facility, CARE’s ER department operates on a modified “first come, first served” policy. Generally, your pet will be seen in the order you present to the hospital with the exception that patients determined critical by our trained staff will be triaged to the treatment area and draw the attention of the Veterinary team immediately upon arrival.
Please understand that due to the nature of our caseload, the need to have no distractions outside of patient care, and for the safety of all family members, we do not allow owners to accompany their pets into the treatment area. You can be assured our staff has been trained to handle your pet family member with the ultimate compassion and care. As soon as the Emergency Veterinarian on staff has examined your pet you will be updated as to their condition. In the interim, stabilization therapies will be instituted as deemed necessary.
Please note that during the week our emergency department closes at 8:00 AM. As such, we cannot hospitalize emergency patients in our hospital after this time. Consequently, it is the responsibility of each owner of hospitalized patients to plan on picking up their pet family member between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM on these days. Based on the condition for which your pet was hospitalized, as well as their response to the treatments and therapies provided, we will discuss with you at discharge whether to transfer to your family veterinarian for continued case management, or back home for continued recovery.
CARE Hospital works closely with your primary care veterinarian to offer the best care for your pet. To this end, we send to your primary care veterinarian full copies of all medical records, bloodwork results, and ICU nursing charts so that they are kept up to date about your pet’s specific condition, therapies and clinical progression. If performed, a CD containing copies of the digital image radiographs taken will be sent with you to present to your family veterinarian.
The CARE Hospital recognizes the importance of protecting the personal privacy of its clients, its patients and those individuals who simply visit our site. Your privacy is also protected in our hospital. At no time is any information given out about the client or the pet without the explicit consent of the owner.
